AS the name stated single sided PCBs have only one layer of conductive material. The single sided PCBs are introduced in 1950 and are still famous than any other PCB. The Single sided PCBs are easy to design and manufacturing is quite easy.

The single side PCB has one thin layer of thermally conductive and electrically insulating dielectric is laminated with copper. In the beginning, all the PCBs are made manually. After ironing the etching process is started. The upper layer is made with a conductive material like copper and while etching with ferric chloride the copper is dissolved except the printed layer. But nowadays the latest technology PCB assembling machines are available. In these machines just insert PCB sheet and components and another process the machine does it by itself precisely.

With this latest technology, the PCB manufacturing becomes very easy and the manufacturing cost is minimized. The single sided PCB is ideal for simple designs. With the low manufacturing cost it is more preferable for bulk manufacturing. The single side PCB has very low manufacturing defects.
